Among collectors of American watch history, Hamilton stands out as the finest American watch made. There is no denying Hamilton watches demand a premium among collectors and are without question, the most collectible of all American-made watches.
Hamilton watches are made in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and began production as the Keystone Standard Watch Company in 1892. After it was forced into bankruptcy, a group of Lancaster businessmen set out to “build only watches of the highest quality.”
The Lancaster company merged with Aurora Watch Company in Illinois and renamed after company founder James Hamilton, who owned land given to him from William Penn in what is now Lancaster.
